I am a HUGE fan of the Vacation Races series (this was my fifth), but this was my least favorite by far. Enjoyed spending time in the park before/after the race but would definitely not run it again. The terrain was awful (deep sand, often uphill) and the clouds of dust made it difficult to breathe or see anything. Because of headlamp and desire to not bust my face, I rarely looked up and therefore never felt like I was “running under the stars.” Go see Joshua Tree, but skip this race.

Course is lovely, all along on a paved road. We had a very cold race morning. Vacation Races always puts on a great expo and post-race party, but the shuttle system to the start could use some tweaking – I think we were supposed to get on a shuttle to the start at 4:30am for a 6:30 start, which would have meant standing around in 9 degree weather in the dark for over an hour. Needless to say my group opted to drive ourselves to the start and wait in our heated car.

Love Vacation Races! This one is extremely downhill, which has its own challenges (my quads were DESTROYED the following day). Starts on an unpaved forest road and ends with a flat (but feels uphill after all the downhill) loop around a lake. Loved the race and Yosemite!

This is my favorite race EVER. The scenery is so stunning that I barely noticed the relatively steep first five miles. Photo crew did a fantastic job capturing pics with amazing background. Will definitely run this race again. Make sure to plan plenty of time to explore Glacier – we were there for a week before the race and barely scratched the surface!
