About Me

  • Running club(s):

    Native Women Running

  • Rave race:
  • Race that's calling my name:

    Boston Marathon

  • I run because:

    I run because it is apart of who I’am being Native American. At a early age we are taught by our elders to wake up before the sun and run. As we run we say prayers for all things living, as the sunrises we are greeting it. Running has played important roles in both my tribes as I’am Hopi and Navajo.

    Running has also helped me with my sobriety, Iam not ashamed to say that. As I know most will probably judge me for that, but running has became my medicine. It helps me mentally and spiritually, also I have over came my diabetes with running. I was insulin dependent for many years, once I took on running, I have been able to get off of insulin and control my sugars through diet and exercise.

This was my first Vacation Race, and I absolutely LOVED it. I will diffently be back next year to run the Elk Double again. The amazing weather, and beautiful scenery made it more awesome. I traveled from Mesa,Az so this was a treat for my family and I. As far as the difficulty I would have to say work on inclines, from mile 3 to mile 6 is a gradual incline. Also I would say if you are not use to the elevation arrive a couple days early so you can acclimate yourself to the elevation. I would change nothing about this race, it was all very well organized. Just run and have FUN!!! HAHAHA.
