Great race but WOW it was cold!

What was I thinking? A half marathon in Utah in February?!?! I must be crazy! It was brutally cold at the start but that is really the only negative thing I have to say about this race! The scenery is gorgeous and the snow on the mountains added to the beauty. The packet pickup was well organized and went smoothly, The shuttle buses were on time (early actually) and convenient to get to. A warming tent was available at the start which was absolutely necessary due to the cold plus I arrived via shuttle about 1 1/2 hours before the start. There were ample toilets at the start but there was still the last minute rush and wait before the race started. Hot chocolate and coffee were also provided. The first couple miles were very tough but once I was warmed up, it really wasn’t that bad. A couple uphill sections but it was very gradual – no steep climbs. I stopped a few times to take pictures so no PR for me. The water and electrolyte drink containers froze or were empty at miles 7 – 12, so that was an issue for those who didn’t have their own. Overall, I thought the race was well-organized, beautiful, and fun and I’d love to do it again…in warmer weather.
