Have run this a few times and it’s always been fun. It’s towards the end of fall so the weather is still decent and there’s pretty fall foliage. The course is tough but pretty great – they changed it a bit this year – not sure if those were permanent or temporary changes, but the route was fairly similar. Always a nice long sleeve tech shirt for a small-ish local race, but I preferred the previous race motto (“it’s a hill, get over it!”). Don’t miss out on the post race party – good food, local beer, music, a raffle, and a great view of the Navesink!

Scenic and fast course. Fun and supportive crowd. My only complaint was the ugliest tech shirt from any of the races I’ve run. Also it seems public transport was the best option to get to and from the start and finish, but also a little exhausting (I was relatively local at the time, may not be a problem for people traveling from out of town to choose a hotel close to the start/finish).

The scenery is incredible. The hills makes for a really tough road race. I’m not usually one for gimmick entertainment along the course, but the Taiko drummers and peaceful piano music were a nice and different touch that you don’t commonly find in other races, yet somehow seemed to uniquely fit this course. The fresh fruit in the last few miles was the best aid station offering ever!
