This is a beautiful course with lots of scenery to distract yourself with when the miles seem long. Some hills about half way in add some challenge, but overall this is a very manageable course.
In past years this race has been in late March – making it a great New Years Resolution half – but the early March date still worked out even though it was very cold. This was my 3rd time running this race, and the adjustments made to the course made for a smoother run. Keep in mind miles 4-6 are through Sycamore Grove, which can get a little crowded with so many runners on a narrow path. The scenery and peacefulness of Sycamore Grove are a nice tradeoff though.
I would highly recommend this race. It’s a great first-timer half marathon too.
