LOVED this race! Beyond difficult but the views and amazing course made up for the difficulty 10x over. This was definitely a race that we limped away from with tired & sore muscles. And when we got in the car, we had nothing but praise for the event, course and organization. I’m pretty sure this will stand as my Personal Worst (PW) marathon time for years to come but I’m so proud of that PW!

One of my favorite races of the year. Everything was perfect from the downtown Louisville staging area with a host hotel within walking distance to the expo and race start. Plus a thriving downtown with lots of activities for the whole family. Then a GREAT race that showcased Louisville and all it’s attractions. A couple difficult sections but so worth it. My favorite part? The flowering trees and beautiful neighborhoods!

If you want a fast 50K time, head to Chicago. Not sure there is a flatter & faster 50K available in our area. They offer a springtime event and also a 50K & a 50 miler in the fall. Spring race is on the Northside, fall race is Southside. Great events. Lots of aid stations filled with tons of snacks and real foods. Easy to follow course. No hills. No roots or rocks to trip over! Majority of the course is on the paved lakefront path. Good race!

Definitely a “must run” event. I really can’t say enough about the race and the town of Little Rock itself. Great expo. Great race. Nice downtown area with lots of activities for the entire family. A very well supported race with cheering crowds and despite the horrible weather. In fact, there was a bit of confusion due to the bad weather and some volunteers were trying to shut the race down. Alas, many of us finished the full marathon anyhow. Lots of great sites along the way, a priest sprinkling runners with Holy Water, the Governor high fiving runners outside the Governor’s mansion, beautiful old, mature neighborhoods, a few hills and horrid wind, rain & sleet which eventually turned to full on freezing rain. Not normal weather for Little Rock so don’t let the 2014 weather deter you from going to enjoy this amazing race!

I’m not a Disney Lover and basically went to run the first ever Dopey Challenge because, well, it was a challenge! They Disney races are very well organized but also very crowded. Take your costume along with an extra dose of patience and go HAVE FUN! Can’t imagine people running these races for time unless they are seeded toward the front. Great races though, always something to see! I’ve heard complaints on some of the back service roads that we ran but I’m not sure how we could get from park to park smoothly without using some service roads. I thought these were great races and I’m not a Disney “aficionado”.

Nobody does a trail race better than Huff. If you haven’t ran an ultra before, start here. Then you can compare each one thereafter to Huff. Easy packet pick. Warming Tent. Multiple Race distances so your friends can go even if they are scared of the 50K distance. Homemade, hot soups and candies at aid stations. Great scenery. Trail is groomed and wide enough to run beside a friend. Super friendly beginner race for those wanting to start trail running and/or would like to venture into the ultra distance.

Chicago does it right from the expo to the race day experience. Volunteers and crowd support is off the hook. You’ll never see more of Chitown in one day than you will during the Chicago Marathon. It’s a must run in my opinion and I’ve ran 4-5 now.
