2018 EVENT CANCELED — From the race website: “We are incredibly sorry to inform you that we are unable to hold the Race 13.1 Wilmington event on February 4th, 2018. We are devastated and can’t apologize enough. We’re currently working closely with the city of Wilmington, the North Carolina Department of Transportation and local law enforcement to reschedule the event, and will let you know as soon as we have a fully-permitted event scheduled on a future date.”
The Race 13.1 Wilmington Half-Marathon, 10k and 5k event returns this February! The event will once again start and finish at Lumina Station, the “shopping village by the beach” with a route that features the city’s beautiful Cross City Trail as well as the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s campus. With an average high of around 60 degrees in February, Wilmington is an ideal place to enjoy the coast’s natural beauty, spend time with family and friends and a great destination for a weekend getaway!

Overall, it was great. Beautiful course even though I’m not a huge fan of out and back. This was my first half and I would totally do this race again! They had plenty of hydration stations, but I think they could have benefitted from having at least one nutritional station (or 2), at least towards the end. The proverbial wall got me around 9.5 miles, but the course beauty and my hard head, kept me going! Well done!

Race day packet pick up was super easy. because of how the Streets were coned off, I missed the initial turn into the main parking lot, but we eventually found it. It was a fast, fun race course. Not too many people on the side of the road cheering, but there were plenty of turnarounds where runners could cheer each other on.
