One of the closest trail race in my area. It is small scale but relatively well organized. Love the handmade finisher “medal” but I wish it could be slightly bigger. As it is a two loops of 10km repeated course, it is easier for race strategy like managing speed, where to eat gels. I wish I had a better sleep the night before so didn’t need to run that hard 😂

Great partners/sponsors combined their friendly vibes with the positive energy that emanated from each of the Evergreen crew of staff and volunteers. TWO awesome on-course photographers took a ton of killer photographs, and threw out a bunch of encouragement on course. Each turn was clearly marked. I do get award/medal envy when I see the beautiful medals the Orca road running cousins get though.

I love running through these woods. This is my second time running the Soaring Eagle Trail Run with Evergreen Trail Runs, but my first time participating in the half.
The course is fun, and approachable for any level of trail running experience (in my opinion). Some roots, and rocks. Some hills. But nothing too extreme.
I really enjoyed the scenery and appreciated the very clear course markings which made it easy to just focus on my run.

This was my first ever trail race and only my fourth time running on the trails. The production of the race was super smooth and even though there were a lot of events going on simultaneously, the course never felt too crowded. The 10k course was great for a beginner— enough of a challenge to be interesting but still totally doable. Can’t wait to do it again next year!

Overall, this is a good course, fairly well maintained. Lots of smooth rocks that were easy to kick loose in the dry dirt, so need to watch out for those. The tree roots also kept you on your toes. Easy elevation gains and declines. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

Mellow course – I kept thinking while running the first 10k loop of the half ‘How can you have a loop with only 2 uphills and lots of downhill?’

The Soaring Eagle half marathon trail run consists of 2 loops on a very well marked route. The trails themselves are in great condition. As for the technical aspect, the routes are mostly flat with a few hills that aren’t too long or difficult. There are a number of spots with large tree roots or clumps of smaller roots that provide a nice introductory challenge for new trail runners. Overall this is a great trail run for all expertise levels and I would highly recommend for new trial runners.
