The views were incredible and distracting. The after party was at the beach which was a plus. They had water stations where fuel was available to you, and I saw it operating smoothly. The production of the race was very informative, and I appreciated it being my first half marathon. I never felt lost in any aspect. The race shirt was super nice, and my medal is currently being displayed at home. There are 4 bridges in this race. If you prep for it, is a piece of cake and fun! The weather cooperated that day and we only got the sun on the last bridge. Thank you Miami for being so awesome and for everyone involved in this race.

The weather is perfect for running especially if you come from a country with tropical marine climate all year round…. The people who supports and motivates us on the route is amazing, the scenery is fantastic with a little gut buster of the inclined of the causeway to force you into lower gear for the 13.1 miles . Plus, there is music on the route and sharp camera crew to capture every smile, every grit and stride you make along the way… then came the stretch to the finish… full strides, light camera and action all the way with thunderous applauses from the vibrant street lined crowd… Awesome…. my boots are already laced for next year’s event…. catch me if you can because I will be faster!!

This half marathon is probably the hardest in Miami, that I know of. The warmer temperatures during this time don’t help. This was my second time running it and the bridges don’t become any less forgiving. The first 3 miles are flat as you’re going through Miami Beach. Then the next three miles you’re heading out through the Julia Tuttle Causeway. It consists of two sets of massive bridges that will definitely slow you down. The scenery is incredible! Especially if you’re not from Miami so be prepared to take pictures or record.

You’ll then pass parts of Wynwood and Downtown as you make your way back to Miami Beach. Then you have to go over another set of bridges in the MacCarthur Causeway. At this point your legs may feel done but you’re almost there! You finish up at the beach, close to the start line. The mile markers were off this time by a good amount so I had to deduct for that. Plenty of aid stations and there’s a party on the beach at the end. You receive a shirt, medal and complimentary pictures. The race is a little pricey for a half. I would recommend it but I don’t think it’s a race you’ll PR; it’s more so to enjoy and take it in.

As first time, it was difficult. I prepared but not enough. The view when running over the bridges was unforgettable but also the pain while running the last bridge. The heat and the pain in my legs made it hard for me to enjoy the view. However, I noticed other runners, probably better prepared, would pass me without difficulty. I will definitely run this race again next year but for sure I will be better prepared. It was great!

A bit hot but manageable. Great course. Julia Tuttle bridge was a killer on the up hill.. definitely need to train more on hills. Any chance to add a 10k would be great! Parking in the morning was a bear . I would say to stay closer or find ways to get a shuttle , Next year I’ll take an uber or get dropped off or stay on the beach. I really enjoyed going through Wynwood and neighborhood .. it could use some more fan fare 🙂

Wow, what an amazing race for my 75th half marathon! I admittedly did not train properly for the heat and humidity of this race, so the 83 degree temps and 62% humidity definitely impacted my performance. That being said, the course was so beautiful! The race started in South Beach along Ocean Drive with a stunning sunrise over the ocean. We ran through downtown South Beach and across the Julia Tuttle Cswy bridge into downtown Miami. Thankfully I was given a heads up on the climb up the bridges, so I was prepared to tackle them. The backdrop of downtown Miami definitely helped to distract from the climb as the sun starting to beat down on me. Downtown Miami provided a brief reprieve from the sun as the buildings shaded us for a couple miles. We then turned back to head towards South Beach again, crossing over another the MacArthur Cswy bridge and alongside the massive cruise ships. As we were back in direct sunlight, with some occasional shade from the palm trees, I focused on the cruise ships and scenery to push through. After crossing the bridge, we weaved along a gorgeous beachside paved trail that was lined with palm trees and other foliage for the last few miles before finishing in Lummus Park. Although this was a decent sized race, I never experienced any bottlenecking or had extensive weaving through other runners, which was a welcomed change.

There were plenty of aid stations, some of which had a hose and volunteers offering to cool runners down if they wanted. I rarely use aid stations anymore during half marathons, however I took advantage of 4 of the aid stations on this race for a sip of water and then dumped the rest on my head to cool me down. The humidity prevented the water from absorbing though, so I was pretty soaked by the time I finished the race. All of the volunteers were friendly and energetic, the spectators along the course did a great job of keeping us motivated as well.

Upon crossing the finish line, we were presented with a stunning medal that highlighted some of the main areas and notable aspects of Miami. We also received water, Gatorade, Dole fruit cups and there was a rice dish offered but I declined as I can’t eat directly after a race. The finisher festival in Lummus Park had a super fun and upbeat vibe as a DJ was keeping the energy going. The beer garden had a few options for runners over 21, however I am not a beer fan so it would have been great to have a seltzer or cider option.

Rewinding back to the expo, they had a variety of options on different days/times to accommodate runner’s schedules. I opted for the Saturday packet pickup that was held at Nike as it was the closest to my hotel. The packet pick-up was busy, however it was very well organized so the line went fast. We received our bib, finisher shirt, and a 20% discount at Nike (since they were hosting this expo day) that I took advantage of. Speaking of the finisher shirt, this finisher tank is perhaps one of my all-time favorite finisher shirts I’ve received from a race. Not only does it fit great (many finisher shirts are baggy and not flattering) but it has a vibrant 305 design on the front and down the back. This is a shirt I will definitely be rocking often on runs and just around town.

Overall, Run Miami did a phenomenal job on the 305 Half Marathon, it was so well organized from start to finish. If you are looking for a race in Florida, I cannot recommend this one enough!

Love it. Challenging for Floridian. Race is a huge loop crossing 2 different bridges. The first bridge actually has two humps and I was mentally not prepared for the second hump. The view is beautiful. You get to see the skyline with beautiful ocean. Everything was well organized. Water stations, gatorades, and bathroom are plenty along the whole route. Be prepared for the sun and heat- by 7:30 it is fully out. Love the design of the metal. Everyone was really supportive. The fried rice and fruits at the end are super yum too.

There are 3 main bridges in this course which is more elevation gain than you’d get on your average training run in Miami, but the challenge of that is what makes this my favorite race course in Miami. Race starts in South Beach which is nice, running through downtown Miami though is not my favorite part of the race but finishing off through the MacArthur Causeway and South Point sure makes it an overall beautiful course. Not as much energy as the Miami half marathon in terms of spectators but definitely less crowded.

The views were hands down one of the best I’ve ever raced in. I was visiting Miami on vacation and took my phone out of my pocket several times to capture the moment. You can watch the sun rise during the race and a big portion is running over the water. This was very well organized with a water/gatorade station almost every mile. I found the post race party to be really enjoyable with lots of food and live music. The location is perfect, you can have a beach trip afterwards by just walking a few steps. I have to say I didn’t plan on running this race, but when I got to south beach and heard about it I knew it was for me. I would definitely race it again!

This was my second time running this race and it was just as enjoyable this time around. Full disclosure — I had the honor of winning a RaceRaves giveaway that paid for my entry fee, which made it even better!

Weather was ideal, maybe even slightly cooler than the last time the event took place in 2020 (the race was cancelled in 2021). The crowd was slightly thinner this time than last. Event production was outstanding as per usual and the finisher’s medal this year was truly hefty (I think the thing must weigh no less than five pounds). Beautiful scenery of the cruise ships and surrounds, especially at the beginning and ending. Aid stations were plentiful and cafecitos were available pre-race, although I didn’t have a chance to partake in the coffee this year to my own dismay.

Given this is the only half marathon I have run, I don’t have a great basis for comparison; however, I have found this to be an awesome experience both times and would recommend it to any runner who enjoys the half marathon distance. I feel lucky to live within walking (running) distance of this superb event. A big thank you to RaceRaves for allowing me the opportunity to race this one again and to share the experience with others.
